The Netflix series Abstract: The Art of Design, has us pretty captivated and inspired these days.
Christoph Niemann is the featured artist of episode 1. As an illustrator, Christoph is inspired by the shared human experience. What pieces of an object or image are actually necessary for recognition? How simplified can a form be expressed while still allowing the viewer to inference the whole? Christoph’s comedic use of Legos to represent this simplified concept really reached us as parents…and as victims of late night lego stomping, ouch.
All of this simplification lines right up with what’s happening in the world of data right now. Many organizations are asking, how can we share complicated data with our audience/clients/supporters in a way that is beautiful as well as concise and impactful? Christoph Niemann is miles ahead. And we’re doing our best to take a page from his book…speaking of which, check on of his out!
